I've been thinking a lot lately. Like how everyone can be a human being, and not be human. What does being human actually mean? I'm sure everyone has their own definition for that. For me, I guess it's just the basic compassion, empathy, kindness, selflessness etc.
With that being said, I just wanna touch on how important it is to give rather than receive. You'll find much more joy in giving, because seeing that you're the reason for the smile on someone else's face, will instantly make you feel good about yourself. Whereas if you're going to expect people to do shit for you in return, you'll always be let down and remain grumpy when people fail to deliver. I'm sure many have heard of this saying.. No expectations, no disappointments. If you're going to expect something in return for a good deed that you've done, then I'd rather you not do it at all. Doing something for a good cause shouldn't be allowing yourself to develop a mindset that someone owes you a favor, but rather, it should be done out of pure joy and with a sincere intention of helping others.
It's just so wrong to think that you just want to be associated with an individual, or offer your help/time whatsoever, just in hopes of getting something in return for now or in future. The world doesn't revolve around you, not everything is about you!
Just wish that people will stop being so selfish and try putting the feelings of others' ahead of theirs. I've been way too nice to people that I'm constantly being taken for granted. I may be selfish at times in various ways, but I still wind up being selfless, especially towards those I care about.
Honestly, I just wonder what's so great about putting yourself first, thinking about yourself first, and just neglecting the feelings of others' if it means that you'll be happy. Does it really make one feel good, or what's the explanation for almost everyone I've come across to be able to do it?
Being so selfless may not really be worth it for some people, and it hasn't gotten me anywhere. Probably I need to change my perspective on things. Only maybe..
