BKK Day 5/6 & 6/6

Finally, I've come to reach the final 2 days of my Bangkok trip. It was a good trip down the memory lane as I recall whatever we did there and the good times we had during those moments, while I try my best to transform all of these into words.

Our first meal of the day was Kaiton chicken rice, which I found out was just directly opposite our hotel, after we ate KwangHeng chicken rice. The chicken rice at BKK is legit, the rice was ultra fragrant and the chicken meat was super tender, it's just that I prefer Singapore's chili! Chicken rice will never taste the same without the chili that we always pair it together with in Singapore.

We moved out of Berkeley Hotel and switched to Budacco Hotel because our flight back home was in the morning, which meant that we had to be at the airport really early, so we thought that it was a waste of money to stay at Berkeley for the last night since we would be out for most of the day. Hence, we booked a budget hotel in Pratunam area as well.. Imho, the hotel is really cozy and they have impeccable service, but it's really a tad small for 4 of us to stay, because it was originally meant for only 2 guests per room. Naturally, we had some problems but to skip the long story, it was all settled right before we checked out of the hotel.

I wouldn't recommend the hotel if what you're looking for is more privacy, space, and luxury.. Even if you're a little tight, you may want to consider other budget hotels as well. Budacco doesn't have a building on its own, so initially we didn't have such an easy time locating the hotel. It's smacked right in the middle of Pratunam morning market, and it is considered to be one of the most dangerous places in BKK itself. Moreover, the cabs nor tuktuks drives in to the hotel because it isn't accessible to the vehicles, so we could only walk.. My god, can y'all imagine the fear the 4 of us had when we returned back to the hotel at 3AM odd that night!

Shopped around Pratunam morning market for a bit, before switching to Platinum Mall because we were all dying from the sweltering heat. Bought some street food to try out, and the one in the picture above is really delicious! I've no idea what it is though, probably some fish or cuttlefish, but forget it, it tastes good so it doesn't really matter.

Matilda brought us to try some considerably famous tomyum soup stall which is also in Pratunam. We took a cab and dropped off somewhere before walking in to find the shop. But I must say, this is one of the best bowls of tomyum noodle soup I've ever eaten. It was milky and we could also select our meat preferences and the food was served quickly! We devoured this in no time, while listening to the stories that each of us had to say, as usual..

Did some mini window shopping, as well as last minute grocery shopping at Siam Paragon before we settled down at Mr Jones Orphanage for desserts. I've always wanted to try this cafe, but the hype went down after awhile.. Considering that we were in the vicinity, we decided to give this a shot. We made total fools out of ourselves in the cafe, especially during the time when we tried to take an instaworthy picture of the food. Oh my God I'm so embarrassed for doing such absurd stuffs, but we sure did have a good laugh.

Kind'a disappointed that almost everything we wanted to order on their menu was unavailable so we had to make do with other desserts. I particularly loved the chocolate cake because it was so rich, but it was rather mediocre tbh.

Had a hard time finding After You cafe at Siam Square 1 because we frequent the one at Siam Paragon. Thankfully, some really really really kind souls led us to the cafe even though they were unsure of the location. They even walked back all the way from the cafe after willingly searching for it on our behalf, to guide us there. I swear that all we did was to ask around for the location and were about to give up and head to Rot Fai market to shop since we were already stuffed from dinner and desserts.

So on top of our fatigue and our craziness, we laughed ourselves silly again in the cafe. Ok basically we laughed everywhere we this entire trip, there were a few exceptionally funny incidents, but most of the time we were just feeling damn carefree, cheerful, and laughing heartily.

Ordered the pancake, honey shibuya toast and flat white coffee and I was frankly quite shocked that we still managed to finish it all despite feeling so full. We had a long wait for the Honey Shibuya toast, which explains why the ice cream topped on the pancakes were already melting uglily. Oh well..

Before leaving, we wanted to use the restroom, but we had no idea where it was, so the staff specially escorted us all the way to the toilet, which was really far by the way.. And really dark and scary if we were to walk alone by ourselves. Actually we met lots'a really nice and helpful people during this trip, so we were super fortunate!

Took a cab down to Rot Fai market, but sadly, some of the stalls were already packing up.. We quickly roamed about and did some last minute shopping. However, there was nothing much to shop since most of the stalls are already closed and what's left are mainly the food stalls, which didn't appeal to us at all (not because they didn't look tantalizing, but because we were too full to stuff anymore food down our throats).

After we were done shopping, we bought some beers and sat outside a closed stall because we were too exhausted and we can't be bothered with our image anymore. That's when a really friendly and thoughtful food stall owner called us over to sit at the chairs of their shop, and they even offered to let us connect our phones to the speaker so we could listen to our songs. I shamelessly accepted their offer and I found out that they were really nice people who could speak fairly good English! We chilled there for a bit more before we were finally willing to head back to the hotel..

We were almost late for check in because we overslept.. I've also realized that the taxi trips to the airport are the trips to be the most wary of because that's when the cab driver will try to cheat your money, telling you shit like "there's a heavy traffic" or what not, when the traffic is smooth and fast in actual fact. Ughhh
Anyways, these are the whole lot of chips that I bought back because this is SOOOOOO GOOD!!! I can't wait to return to BKK to stock up on this chips already.

It saddens me that this 6 day trip came to an end because I was having so much fun there. I feel like this trip has definitely brought us together and it really makes me happy to see them everyday. Oooops overly attached friend here. But seriously, it was a fabulous trip that will stay etched in my mind for life. We each even customized a t-shirt, stamped with the words "#lespartyinbkk", which was our hashtag that I thought of after changing and fussing over several other hashtags before.

With that, I've come to the end of my BKK'15 post.
To many more trips in future. Love you girls always!

Signing off,
Vinez, xx
