ADV: E-Sarn Thai Cuisine

Ever since I came back from Bangkok with my friends, I've missed the food there terribly! I'm a huge fan of thai cuisine and I don't think I'll ever say no to it. Tomyum goong, pad thai, basil chicken, green curry, mango sticky rice, red rubies.... My my!!

Claire got invited down to E-Sarn Thai Cuisine to try the food there and she brought Matilda & I along.
  • Address: 10 Bukit Chermin Road, Level 1 (Main Clubhouse) S(109918)
  • Contact: 68780866
  • Opening hours: Tues-Fri: 1130AM to 230PM and 530PM to 10PM Sat-Sun: 1130AM to 10PM (Closed on Mondays)
It's kind'a inconvenient to get in as there are no public transport that drives into this place, but if we look on the bright side, it's only a short 10min walk away from Telok Blangah MRT Station.

I suppose this is the lounging area which is just outside the restaurant.

The outlet at Keppel Club is rather new. Above are the interior of the restaurant!

We were famished by the time we got there as it was already pretty late.. They had wide ranging menu choices and we took quite some time deciding what to order.

Thai Iced Tea ($4)
It isn't considered having a Thai meal without their famous cha yen!

Tom Kar ($13.50)
Delicious bowl of piping hot tomyum soup. We prefer the creamy coconut based to the clear based soup, and I'm glad that the soup met with our expectations. It's nothing comparable to the authentic ones we drank in Thailand, but trust me, it's one of the better tomyum soup I've tasted!

Grilled Beef ($14.50)
These beef slices were just succulent as hell! They tasted great and I guess I can say that it's my favorite dish of the night. You've definitely got to order this, no regrets, I promise.

Stuffed Boneless Wings ($11.50)
The chicken wings were stuffed with mushroom and chestnuts, which is quite a unique combination. However, it wasn't really much to my liking. It's one of the few dishes that are stated "Good For Kids", so probably it suits the tastebuds of children more.

Pad Thai ($8.50)
This plate of pad thai was slightly above average.. Perhaps it wasn't spicy enough for me. However, I particularly enjoyed the prawns which were really crunchy and sweet, just the way I like it.

For the veg, we had us some 'Tempura' Mixed Vegetables ($10.50). There was a variety of greens, such as lady fingers, long beans, egg plants, carrots, and baby corn, and they're accompanied with sweet chili sauce. I don't eat vegetables regularly as I don't fancy the taste of fresh vegetables, so I guess this is a good way for me to consume 'em.

Apart from Pad Thai, we also ordered their Fried Spicy Kway Teow ($8.50). This is supposed to be one of their chef recommended dish, but it totally did not appeal to any of us. Though it was spicy as stated, it tasted bland as well.. You'd probably wanna skip this and try other dish instead!

Omelette ($7.50)
Mediocre dish but we finished it nonetheless.

Crispy Soft Shell Crab ($10.50)
This was one of our favorites amongst the lot. It was very flavorful and remained crispy despite us spending quite some time taking pictures. This was too, wiped clean!!!

Even though we were very full, we still had a separate stomach for desserts! I was somewhat disappointed that they ran out of my favorite red rubies, so we settled for their Coconut Ice Cream ($5). It tasted refreshing and light, which is just what we needed after our heavy meal.

Mango with Sticky Rice ($6)
Having this just reminds me of the days in Bangkok because their mangoes were as fresh as the ones we had there! I'm not a fan of mangoes, but these were really juicy and good.

We certainly had a great time there catching up since everyone is so busy with work, school and what not these days.. The company was great, so naturally it led to an even greater meal!

Thank you to E-Sarn Thai Cuisine for having us.
